Η δραματική σειρά Succession του HBO, που αφηγείται τον ανελέητο ανταγωνισμό στους κόλπους μιας πανίσχυρης οικογένειας για τον έλεγχο ενός δημοσιογραφικού οργανισμού-κολοσσού, «σάρωσε» στις υποψηφιότητες για τα βραβεία Emmy, συγκεντρώνοντας συνολικά 27.
Απέναντί της η «οικογένεια Ρόι» θα βρει τη σειρά The Last of Us, ένα δυστοπικό road-movie που περιγράφει έναν κατεστραμμένο κόσμο, καθώς και τη σειρά The White Lotus, μια κοινωνική σάτιρα που παρακολουθεί τις νευρώσεις των πλούσιων πελατών και των υπαλλήλων ενός ξενοδοχείου στη Σικελία. Και οι δύο σειρές είναι παραγωγές του HBO και συγκέντρωσαν 24 και 23 υποψηφιότητες αντίστοιχα.
Στην κατηγορία καλύτερης κωμωδίας, υποψήφιες είναι μεταξύ άλλων οι σειρές Abbot elementary, The Bear και Wednesday.
Η 75η τελετή απονομής των βραβείων Emmy, των «Όσκαρ της τηλεόρασης», είναι προγραμματισμένη για τις 18 Σεπτεμβρίου όμως ενδέχεται να αναβληθεί στην περίπτωση που κηρύξουν απεργία οι ηθοποιοί του Χόλιγουντ.
