Η κυκλοφορία ενός από τα θρυλικότερα τραγούδια του Bowie
Ήταν το ομώνυμο τραγούδι της κορωνίδας της τριλογίας του Βερολίνου για τον καλλιτέχνη. Το Heroes έμελλε να γίνει ένα σύμβολο για τον Bowie, για την δεκαετία, για τον κόσμο ολόκληρο. Κυκλοφόρησε σαν single μία ημέρα σαν αυτή. Στις 23 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1977.
Στη γερμανική πόλη, ανάμεσα στην υπόλοιπη καθημερινότητα του, θα ηχογραφήσει τρεις ιστορικούς δίσκους που σήμερα είναι γνωστοί στο ευρύ κοινό ως "Η τριλογία του Βερολίνου". Πρόκειται για τα Low (1977), "Heroes" (1977) και Lodger (1979). Από αυτά, το μόνο που ηχογραφήθηκε εξ ολοκλήρου στο Βερολίνο ήταν το Heroes.
Με την προτροπή του Brian Eno, ο David Bowie στρατολογεί τον Robert Fripp, κιθαρίστα των θρυλικών King Crimson οι οποίοι μετά το εξαιρετικό "Red" θα κάνουν διάλειμμα διαρκείας. Ο Fripp ηχογραφεί τα μέρη του σε τρεις ημέρες. Το album σήμερα συγκαταλέγεται στα πολύ καλά albums του Bowie. Το ομώνυμο single "Heroes", παρά το γεγονός ότι δεν πήγε τόσο καλά εμπορικά στην αρχή, σήμερα είναι ένα από τα πλέον ιστορικά τραγούδια του καλλιτέχνη.
